Coherent Inc.’s Micra is an ultrafast laser that delivers a spectral bandwidth of less than 30 to more than 100 nm from an automated package. The compact laser head comprises a broadband oscillator and a dedicated Verdi pump laser. The instrument, which can be used to seed amplifier systems designed to produce amplified pulses as short as 10 to 15 fs, offers center wavelength tunability and a user-adjustable spectral bandwidth. Options include RF synchronization, carrier-envelope phase stabilization, pulse shaping and cavity dumping. Applications include terahertz imaging, optical coherence tomography and time-resolved spectroscopy.
