Eblana Photonics Ltd. has released the LDM series single-wavelength laser diodes for IEEE 802.3ae-2002 10 GBase-LX4 networking applications. Based on proprietary photonbandgap technology, the devices do not require optical isolators, easing implementation of space-constrained package formats such as X2 and SFP while shrinking the LX4 BOM and simplifying module manufacture. Four lasers operate at wavelengths centered at 1275, 1300, 1325 and 1350 nm at a data rate of 3.125 Gb/s to provide an aggregate performance of 10 Gb/s across the legacy Ethernet multimode cabling infrastructure. Operating temperature range is from 0 to 85 °C, and side mode suppression ratio typically is better than 35 dB.
