ML4.2 photoelectric sensors have been announced by Pepperl+Fuchs Inc. Packaged in an antistatic housing that measures 14 × 18 × 33 mm, the devices feature tamperproof fixed sensing ranges, crosstalk immunity and 4-in-1 technology that enables four automatically selected output configurations from a single sensor. They provide optimal background suppression, and targets are detected at ranges of up to 80 mm while background objects millimeters away are disregarded. Color insensitivity is <10 percent, so targets can be detected reliably regardless of color. A glass lens and the antistatic housing make the sensors suitable for printing and paper environments where multicolored targets and dust are present.
