A valved organic evaporator with 50-cc capacity has been released by Oxford Applied Research. Its design incorporates a patented in-line valve, eliminates the thermal inertia of conventional unvalved evaporators and conserves feedstock during bakeout. The evaporant flux can be changed in seconds over a wide dynamic range with a beam profile tailored to the user’s requirements from pencil beam to large-area showerhead configurations. The K-cell section is loaded externally with liquid/solid feedstock without disturbing the valve and beam-outlet head, and the evaporator can be motorized for remote computer control via a standard USB port.
