H2B Photonics, a company in the Rofin group, is presenting multiple laser beam absorption (MLBA) technology for cutting glass with disk lasers. The technology, based on volume absorption of the laser radiation in the glass, allows the laser beam to pass through the glass several times and cuts single plates 0.2 to 24 mm thick and multilayer glass with a thermally induced tension fissure in a single step. The method is clean and contact-free, and the company says that the high edge quality, free of glass chips or microcracks, enhances the stability of glass parts by a factor of two.
