Coherent Inc. has introduced the Cube 445, a compact conduction-cooled laser that produces 40 mW of power at 445 nm. Features include an M2 of <1.2, typical; beam divergence of 0.6 mrad; pointing stability of <6 μrad/°C; and typical rms noise of 0.05% from 20 Hz to 100 MHz. The laser head measures 100 × 40 × 40 mm and dissipates 3 W of heat, typically. The laser can be directly modulated at bandwidths of up to 125 MHz. It interfaces via standard USB and RS-232 ports and has applications in biomedicine, microelectronics and engineering prototyping.
