A 1.3-megapixel image sensor has been designed by Micron Technology Inc. to fit into a 1/5-in. optical format. The MT9M019 image sensor for camera phones and webcams captures 30 fps at full 1.3-megapixel resolution, or 60 fps at VGA resolution. It can image in light at low as 1 lx. The sensor’s slim design allows it to fit into applications requiring the smallest footprint and camera height. The sensor is compatible with the Standard Mobile Imaging Architecture, so that it can be integrated into camera modules for mobile phones.
