Cree Inc. of Durham, N.C., has licensed its white LED patent, US Patent No. 6,600,175, to Kingbright Electronic Co. Ltd., an LED chip customer based in Taipei, Taiwan. One of several that Cree has granted under this patent, the license authorizes Kingbright to manufacture and sell white LEDs that incorporate Cree chips. Cree has expertise in gallium-nitride and silicon-carbide technologies, while Kingbright supplies white and color LEDs for the illumination, backlighting and display industries.
