LightTools version 5.2 illumination design and analysis software from Optical Research Associates (ORA) contains 90 starting point designs for automotive, backlight, digital projector, imaging, LED, light pipe, general lighting and stray light applications. The optimization module improves the performance of illumination systems and offers hundreds of system parameters to deliver specified luminance, illuminance and output intensity distribution. Features to benefit flat panel display designers include a library of models for commercially available display- and brightness-enhancing films. The software supports modeling luminescent materials such as phosphors, which are found in white LEDs, fluorescent lamps, backlight displays and CRTs.
