GREEN LASER

A diode-pumped solid-state green laser that emits two spatially separated beams with M
2<1.1 has been unveiled by
Elektronik Laser System (ELS) GmbH. Each of the MonoDisk-515-Geminis beams has an optical power of up to 20 W continuous wave at 515 nm. The frequency-doubled Yb:YAG laser is set up as a ring cavity, a design that allows continuous output power in the green spectral range. One beam can be modulated at up to 1 MHz, and the external modulation input can be employed to accept a feedback signal from the Ti:sapphire laser to modulate the pump power to compensate for fluctuations. The device is a direct replacement for argon-ion lasers and is suitable for pumping amplifiers and Ti:sapphire and dye lasers.
