Litrax GmbH has introduced an 850-nm implant single-mode vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) and laser bundles for applications that require a reflected signal. The company says that the lasers are superior to oxide VCSELs in electrostatic discharge (>1 kV), reliability and performance, and that they offer compact size, low threshold current, lower power consumption and better output power with a tightly focused beam. They comply with FCC Part 15 and the Nonharming Laser specifications according to IEC 60825-1 laser safety standard as Class 1. Applications include pointing devices, bar-code readers and rangefinders.
