For use with its Laser Tracker X and Xi, Faro Technologies Inc. has developed a fully integrated video camera. Powered by the laser tracker, TargetCam’s 802.11-g wireless camera offers a 40° field of vision, 4× digital zoom, a 704 × 480 view and six blinking infrared LEDs that illuminate up to 80 ft away. The vision system supplies live video via wireless Ethernet so that the user can find targets that are either not in sight or are in cluttered areas, can set up a measurement session on a tool by clicking on each repeatability target in the camera view and measuring the location, and can identify obstructions to the tracker’s line of sight without entering the assembly area.
