Matrox Imaging has launched the Iris E-series configurable smart cameras, which support PC-based machine vision systems and which include hardware for image sensing and software for capture, processing and analysis. Featured are an embedded Intel processor that runs the Windows CE.NET real-time operating system, monochrome or color CCD sensors, an externally triggered or internally controlled electronic shutter, an Ethernet interface, RS-232 serial communication and auxiliary digital I/O’s. The Matrox Imaging Library provides the foundation for the Design Assistant interface that lets the user configure the camera to grab, process and display images; to perform measurements; to analyze data; and to read text strings.
