The Infrared Products Div. of L-3 Communications has released the Thermal-Eye 2400xp, a dual-sensor camera that performs visible and thermal imaging in military, law enforcement and security applications. Solar immunity allows operation in direct sunlight without filters, and the camera can monitor the full perimeter in darkness without enhanced light. Barium strontium titanate thermal imaging technology produces a clear 320 × 240-pixel image, and the automatic CCD visible camera has a 25× optical and 12× digital zoom. The stationary-mounted instrument incorporates pan and tilt for 360° surveillance. Optional graphical user interface software defines a region of interest automatically to detect motion and provide intruder alarms. The system is available in either NTSC or PAL video output format.
