Compact Smart Cameras produced by Vision Components GmbH are now available as color cameras. The VC4016 offers a rate of 16 fps at 1024 × 768 pixels, and the VC4018 offers 32 fps at 640 × 480 pixels. Like the black-and-white models, they feature Texas Instruments digital signal processors with a clock rate of 400 MHz and a computing power of 3200 MIPS. Both models come equipped with 32 MB of DRAM and 4 MB Flash erasable programmable read-only memory for program and data storage. With four PLC inputs, four outputs and RS-232 and Ethernet interfaces, they are designed for integration into many automation environments. Suitable for rugged industrial use, the devices resist vibration and shocks, according to the company.
