Basler AG has extended its eXcite series intelligent cameras with the introduction of four models that are equipped with 1.45- or 2.0-megapixel CCD sensors and that are available in monochrome and color versions. They capture images at 17.8 or 14.0 fps at full resolution, depending on the model, and include a digital camera and a PC in a small industrial-grade housing. A 1.0-GHz processor running on Linux provides full access to the device. Integrated communications interfaces including optoisolated digital IO’s, a serial channel, Gigabit Ethernet and high-speed USB 2.0 allow the user to feed calculated results into the production process without additional hardware. Applications include precision measurement and positioning systems as well as machine vision inspection and identification.
