Infrared Solutions Inc. has announced IR-Fusion, a technology that facilitates pixel-for-pixel merging of infrared and visible light images on a single display. With five viewing modes, the handheld device displays full-IR, full-visible, picture-in-picture, alpha blending and IR/visible alarm images. It features a 1.3-megapixel sensor for visible light gathering and a proprietary vanadium-oxide uncooled microbolometer sensor for IR wavelengths, capturing both types of light simultaneously from the same viewing perspective. The technology is available on the company’s IR FlexCam series cameras, which have selectable temperature ranges, CompactFlash memory, annotation capability, image-management software, and 2×, 4× and 8× digital zoom.
