The DigiPyro PYD 1998 unveiled by PerkinElmer Optoelectronic is a digital dual-element pyrodetector, a pyroelectric infrared sensor for home and industrial motion detection applications. An internal clock and control unit allow the device to communicate with an external microprocessor without additional components such as amplifiers, resistors, capacitors for electromagnetic interference filtering, or A/D converters. The power supply rejection ratio is improved by 30 dB over that achieved by traditional analog detectors. The device combines a ceramic dual-element configuration and an integrated A/D converter. It is supplied in a standard three-pin TO-5 housing.
