Eastman Kodak Co. has extended its partnership with Leica Camera AG to provide image sensors for the latter company’s Leica M8 digital cameras. The Kodak KAF-10500 image sensor was designed and optimized specifically for use with this camera. Based on Kodak’s indium-tin-oxide technology for low noise, high sensitivity and a wide dynamic range, the sensor produces resolution of more than 10 million pixels. With a 6.8-μm-pixel architecture, it uses an optimized microlens configuration to maximize center-to-corner uniformity for better image quality. Antiblooming protection prevents image corruption in high-light-level conditions.
