FIBER LASER PUMPING

A fiber-coupled 976-nm diode laser with 90 W of output delivered via a 200-μm-core fiber with a numerical aperture of 0.22 has been released by Lissotschenko Mikrooptik (Limo) GmbH. The Limo90-F200 DL976(CMF) has a cladding-mode-free design that provides reliable optical fiber fusion splices for high-power laser pump combiners. More than 99 percent of the optical power content is guided by the fiber core for maximum efficiency of coupling into the pump fiber core. The instrument delivers more than 600 W of pump power using seven pump modules. Thermal management is via passively cooled laser bars, enabling the laser module to be cooled with tap water.
