For airborne applications such as electronic news gathering, documentation and mapping, a four-axis gyrostabilized gimbal video system has been announced by Polytech AB. The Pixel 275 II is equipped with a Sony DSR-PD170 video camera with 12× optical zoom. Ready for digital recording to Mini-DV, DV-CAM or computer, the system has a selectable video overlay feature that enables users to present GPS data, date, time and pointing information on the onboard screen. Measuring 275 mm in diameter and constructed from lightweight and high-stiffness materials, it delivers good lift margin, low drag and long endurance.
