The AG-1 distributed feedback (DFB) laser has been launched by Sabeus Inc. Using the patent-pending multivariable control system for dynamic signal feedback, the laser incorporates multiple feedback loops to deliver an effective linewidth from 10 to 400 kHz and frequency stability of ±5 MHz. The narrow linewidth produces high signal coherence for accurate measurements over long distances. The laser is tunable across the C- and L-bands with a tuning range of 3 nm and a minimum step size of 0.5 pm. Optical output is between 10 and 50 mW, and typical power consumption is 4 W. The compact package measures 76 × 102 × 12.7 mm, weighs 9.2 oz and includes a thermoelectric cooler, the laser driver, a power regulator and an embedded microprocessor.
