HIGH-NA FIBERS

CeramOptec Industries Inc. has unveiled the Optran Ultra water-free silica optical fibers, which offer numerical apertures of 0.37, 0.44 and 0.53, with operating temperature ranges of –190 to 400 °C, –40 to 130 °C and –40 to 100 °C, respectively. They are suitable for industrial and scientific applications such as sensing, spectroscopy, laser welding and laser diode pigtailing, as well as for use in medical diagnostics and for delivering photodynamic therapy. With all-dielectric, nonmagnetic construction, they provide transmission from 350 to 2200 nm and high core-to-clad ratios and laser damage resistance.
