Cedip Infrared Systems has released the Altair Li system, an infrared focal plane array camera that captures high-quality thermal images of stress in materials and structures under dynamic, random or transient loading conditions. Proprietary software converts the images into full-field stress images in real time. In applications where there is a large displacement, a software feature is available to provide accurate motion compensation. When measuring heat dissipation on a structure under dynamic loading, the system can rapidly determine the material’s fatigue limit and supply information on the damage mechanism involved.
