The DeepSea G2 stereo vision system introduced by Tyzx Inc. is a compact embedded stereo camera that can be deployed in mobile platforms such as automobiles and commercial and defense robots, or can be networked for use as a person-tracking security system. It integrates a proprietary CMOS imager and a field-programmable gate array that uses the company’s vision primitives together with a digital-signal-processing coprocessor and an embedded PowerPC that runs on Linux. The system transforms incoming imager data into 3-D object maps.
