PULSED SOLID-STATE LASER

The TruPulse solid-state pulsed laser has been introduced by
Trumpf Inc. for use in the manufacture of automotive sensors, actuators and fuel-injection components. A burst function briefly allows the average power to be exceeded and increases the pulse frequency, reducing the welding cycle. Maximum mean power, pulse energy, focus and beam quality can be adjusted, and a removable touch-screen control panel simplifies the setting of output parameters. Average power ranges from 20 to 150 W at a maximum pulse power of up to 10 kW. The lasers can be supplied with an air-cooled chiller or with a water-water heat exchanger. Pulse duration is selectable between 0.2 and 50 ms, and pulse energy, from 0.2 to 90 J. Focused spot sizes from 50 to 300 μm are possible.
