Optical test systems designed to increase the quality of images produced by digital systems have been introduced by Wells Research and Development Inc. The entry-level OS210 LT enables assessment of image quality via star test and US Air Force charts as well as fast numerical measurement of lens properties such as back and front focal lengths, centration and usable field of view. Axial color and astigmatism also can be measured. The advanced-configuration OS210A adds a video camera and proprietary PixelScope-OpticStudio image analysis software that calculates modulation transfer function from edge, line or pinhole targets, as well as contrast measurement from three-bar targets. It also measures lens aberrations such as astigmatism, distortion and lateral color.
