The CMAT camera module assembly and test stations for OEMs support the automated assembly of a variety of digital camera sensors and lens housing designs. Available from Automation Engineering Inc., they assemble a lens to a camera on a printed circuit board in up to six degrees of freedom. The assembly’s software includes modulation transfer function analysis and advanced algorithms to calculate focus scores in the center and four corners of an image. This process enables rapid alignment of the lens to the camera sensor, with better cycle time and repeatability than can be achieved manually.
