Manufacturer: Vertilas GmbH
SINGLE-MODE VCSEL

Vertilas GmbH has unveiled a line of 1310- and 1550-nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) that feature the benzocyclobutene-based optimized device structure. With newly developed high-speed pads, the devices enable applications of up to 10 Gb/s. Offered in standard TO-46 packages and integrated into application-specific assemblies such as pigtails and receptacles, the lasers are suitable for use with small-form-factor optical modules. They feature a tunnel junction structure, indium-phosphide material and a heat sink to manage internally generated heat. The company says that they offer a low threshold current and a high data rate transmission over single-mode fibers.
