Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. of Seoul, South Korea, has purchased volume orders of the Starlase series AO6 lasers from Powerlase Ltd. of Crawley, UK, for use in plasma display panel production. The 600-W, nanosecond, Q-switched solid-state lasers enable rapid materials processing and can replace existing industrial processes. Powerlase has developed options that provide more flexibility in the delivery of the high-power output of the devices.
