BACK-ILLUMINATED CMOS CAMERA

A back-illuminated CMOS camera has been released by
Intevac Scientific & Commercial Imaging for use in scientific and industrial applications such as microscopy, medical imaging, machine vision and general-purpose low-light imaging between 200 and 1100 nm. MicroVista’s back-thinned CMOS sensors offer the advantages of scientific-grade CCDs, including a 100% fill factor, high quantum efficiency, low read noise, low dark charge and flexible region-of-interest settings. Other features include a high frame rate at full sensor resolution of 1280 × 1024 pixels, with a pixel size of 10.8 μm, as well as a small form factor and low power consumption. The camera is supported by LabView, Matlab and V++ software, and, for OEMs, it is available with the company’s IVAPI universal application software interface.
