SKIN MODELING
For use in its Advanced Systems Analysis Program (ASAP) software,
Breault Research Organization (BRO) Inc. has developed a multilayered skin model. ASAP software is a tool for developing bio-optical devices such as confocal microscopes and fluorescence imaging systems to observe optical phenomena in biological tissue. The Realistic Skin Model can model the stratum corneum, epidermis, dermis and hypodermis layers of human skin independently. Options are built in for adjusting concentrations of chromophores in each skin layer. Oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin levels can be adjusted to determine the effects of oxygen deprivation on skin, and the bilirubin level can be increased to study the effects of jaundice.
