Based on a 1/3-in. progressive-scan CCD image sensor, the CS8581QF remote-head FireWire camera from Toshiba Teli America Inc. operates at 133 fps at a full 640 × 480-pixel resolution (8-bit monochrome) and, in partial-scan mode, at more than 430 fps. Features include 7.4-μm square pixels, an electronic shutter (1/50,000 to 2 s) and a random trigger shutter for faster and more precise processing. The system comprises a micro remote-head camera and a central control unit that can be mounted up to 2 m apart.
