The CCD 3041 full-frame image sensor from Fairchild Imaging replaces the CCD 442A and 447 models. The device is suitable for scientific, medical and industrial digital imaging applications. Its focal plane array consists of 2048 × 2048 pixels, delivering 4-megapixel resolution. The pixel pitch of 15 μm provides 16-bit dynamic range, which can be enhanced by the device’s support for on-chip binning. Available in front- or back-illuminated architecture, the sensor has a 100% fill factor and peak quantum efficiency of more than 90%. It offers four low-noise-output amplifiers and readout noise of less than 3 e^– at 50,000 pixels per second.
