MX light microscopes, which use an infinity-corrected optical system, have been announced by Meiji Techno UK Ltd. Three of the instruments are designed for biological applications: The MX 4000 is for academic use in the study of mounted specimens. The MX 5000 is a laboratory-grade device that offers bright-field, dark-field and phase-contrast modes and has an Abbe 1.25-NA condenser with a dovetail mount. The MX 6000 includes bright-field and epifluorescence components as well as optional dark-field and phase-contrast ones. Two instruments are available for metallurgical applications: The MX 7000, which has a bright-field incident light design for reflected light observation, and the MX 8000, which provides bright-field observation in reflected and transmitted modes.
