Rigaku Americas Corp. has launched the Saturn 210 large-area CCD detector that has a 2 × 2-pixel array of Kodak chips, a 210 × 210-mm active area and a readout speed of 4 × 2 MHz. The detector combines front-illuminated Kodak Blue Plus indium-tin-oxide gate technology with a Camera Link high-speed serial data communications interface for synchrotron and home laboratory data collection. The company says that the device produces low noise.
