OPTICAL TRANSCEIVER

Stratos-Optical.jpgThe HTP-TR4 quad port hybrid transceiver from Stratos Optical Technologies is a component-level unit for 1- to 2.5-Gb/s multimode optical datalink applications. Suitable for use in avionics equipment, it measures 1 sq in. and fits within a height of 0.235 in. Compliant with 1×/2× Fibre Channel standards, the device is insertion-mounted with 15 lb of force to a surface-mount ball grid array socket soldered to the application card. The socket design incorporates a retaining clip for high-vibration environments, protects the device from high soldering temperatures, and facilitates initial production as well as board reconfiguration once the device is integrated. A specially designed tool lifts the device from the socket. The transceiver’s interface is a polyimide optical flex pigtail cable terminated into a 1 × 12 MT (mechanically transferable) connector.
