The Lambda SX 540C industrial-grade 308-nm laser from Coherent Inc. provides up to 0.9-J pulses at a repetition rate of up to 600 Hz. According to the company, the model has all of the advantages of other Lambda SX lasers as well as actively stabilized performance at 700 to 900 mJ, a burst mode with PowerLok for “power on demand” applications, an all-solid-state power supply and an external resonator design for beam stability. The laser is suitable for high-duty-cycle tasks such as high-throughput micromachining and surface treatment of glass and plastic, structuring of transparent conductive oxides, direct patterning of thin metal films on plastic substrates, thin-film annealing and reel-to-reel pulsed laser deposition.
