LASER CUTTING SYSTEM
Cincinnati Inc. has unveiled the CL-850, a 5000-W laser cutting system for heavy-duty parts manufacturing. The machine features a GE Fanuc laser resonator, a linear motor drive that positions the laser head at up to 10,000 in./min, a plasma-insensitive height sensor and a breakaway element that prevents debris from entering the beam path and enables beam alignment checking without head removal. The laser can make precision cuts of 18-ga steel at 1000 in./min and can work with up to 1.125 in. of mild steel plate. The unit is available with 5 × 10- or 6 × 12-ft cutting tables, each employing the company’s quick-change dual pallets, which permit one table to be loaded while the other is being processed. Controls are based on Windows XP Professional, enabling operators with minimal training or experience to use the machine.
