For high-volume web scanning and surface inspection of paper, wood and other materials, Schott North America Inc. has introduced its surface-mounted display high-brightness LED line. Standard lengths range from 300 to 3000 mm in 150-mm increments. Printers and manufacturers can use LED technology to generate focused and homogeneous lines of light with working distances from 50 to 100 mm. The acrylic cylindrical lens is integrated into the housing and can be adjusted to modify the working distance. At a 50-mm working distance, the LEDs generate illuminance of 400 klx at 700 mA per LED, with homogeneity of ±5%. A dimmable potentiometer controls intensity via constant current or an external trigger.
