STEREO CAMERA

The Bumblebee XB3 stereo vision camera system from
Point Grey Research Inc. provides high-resolution 3-D images and full stereo processing support. Incorporating three Sony 1/3-in. progressive-scan charge-coupled devices, with 12- and 24-cm baselines for stereo processing, the device offers 1280 × 960-pixel images at 16 fps. It transfers images to the host computer via an IEEE-1394b interface, delivers full field-of-view measurements from a single image set, and is precalibrated for lens distortion and camera misalignments. The system includes the Triclops Stereo software development kit for stereo-based applications and the FlyCapture kit for controlling camera settings and acquiring images in real time. Four models (3.8- or 6-mm CCD, in color or black-and-white) are available.
