Cypress Semiconductor Corp. has enhanced its OvationOns family with the introduction of the Cyons1001G, a laser navigation sensor that employs proprietary and patent-pending OptiCheck technology. The detector and laser are integrated into an 8 × 8-mm package with a snap-on lens design and built-in laser eye-safety management. The signal processing load is independent of mouse speed, and the sensor simultaneously supports speed of 50 in./s and resolution of 2800 counts per inch. OptiCheck delivers a 40-kHz position sampling rate, enabling instant sensor response to changes in tracking direction or speed, with reduced latency.
