Andor Technology has introduced iCam technology, a modification to image acquisition equipment and software that allows faster frame rates. Ring Mode uploads 16 distinct timing patterns into the camera head. Because the camera need not refer to the PC for settings, exposure channels can be switched instantaneously. Other features include bidirectional camera-PC communication, and enhanced external trigger and asynchronous frame transfer modes. Suitable for multidimensional microscopy experiments, the technology is standard on newly purchased iXon^EM+ and Luca^EM models and is available as an upgrade to older cameras. It is compatible with third-party software.
