Spectrum Detector Inc. has designed the SPC line of pyroelectric detectors, which combine rugged LiTaO₃ detector crystals with state-of-the-art surface-mount field-effect transistors and operational amplifiers in high-performance voltage and current mode circuits. The radiometric instruments range in size from 1 to 9 mm diameter and employ NIST-traceable calibration techniques. Spectral response is from the UV to the far-IR, and response time is from micro- to milliseconds. The SPC-X models use a crystal mounting method that maximizes their thermal time constant for optimum current output. The SPC-XH versions maximize heat dissipation to handle higher radiant flux levels. Applications include broadband radiometers, horizon sensors, IR gas analyzers, optical pyrometers, laser energy meters and process control.
