The Nomad portable fiber optic thermometer from Neoptix Fiber Optic Sensors Inc. offers a 160 × 160-pixel backlit LCD and saves temperature readings on up to 1-GB secure digital flash memory cards. The battery-operated device also comes with a universal DC power supply. Compatible with the company’s fiber optic temperature probes and sensors, it has applications in the transformer manufacturing process. Information saved can be downloaded to a computer via the RS-232 port or directly from the computer card reader. Temperature values can be manipulated using Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications. The SnapLog key lets users save one temperature value each time it is pressed, facilitating spot measurement at multiple locations.
