MICROSCOPE SYSTEM
A laser scanning confocal system that can create and control evanescent wave fields for fluorescence via total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) illumination has been developed by
Olympus America Inc. The Fluoview FV e1000-EVA module enables various laser wavelengths designed for confocal illumination to be used, including 440, 488, 515 and 559 nm. The TIRF images are acquired on a CCD camera. The system features full computer control of the laser path that automatically realigns the instrument when objectives are changed during TIRF illumination.
