The Optics division of OC Oerlikon Balzers Ltd. has launched bandpass filters that increase safety in road traffic. They are produced from proprietary, patented sputtering technology that supplies dense coating layers to provide better environmental resistance and that improves optical tolerances by a factor of two. The filters exhibit temperature stability up to 300 °C and are resistant to extreme climate and temperature variations. Applications for the bandpass filters include adaptive cruise control in automobiles, industrial automation and instruments that operate in the near-IR.
