Osram GmbH of Regensburg, Germany, is expanding production capacity at its Penang, Malaysia, plant by up to 50 percent. The company plans to install a wafer production line and an LED chip factory, as well as to expand existing LED assembly facilities. Osram, a European manufacturer of LEDs, also aims to complete expansion of its Regensburg plant, which will continue to manufacture semiconductor materials for lighting, display and sensor applications.
