SPIE of Bellingham, Wash., an international society of scientists and engineers in optics, photonics and related fields, has given $231,500 in scholarships to 136 students in these disciplines. Based on the recipients’ potential for contribution, the scholarships have been awarded to 1019 students from 60 countries since the initiative began in 1986.
