The EP1310-DM-XXXX-Q series directly modulated lasers from Eblana Photonics Ltd. have stable single-wavelength emission over a temperature range of –40 to 85 °C and side mode suppression ratios better than 35 dB over that range. Suitable for gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) and other transceiver applications, the lasers eliminate the need for optical isolators, reducing the transceiver bill of materials and cost of manufacture. They offer high tracking consistency and low tracking error. The die products are particularly suitable for use in transceivers based on programmable logic controllers, because an isolator is not required and because they offer high coupling efficiency and more accurate and reproducible laser-to-waveguide registration.
